This tapestry was commissioned by the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation as a tribute to Dame Elisabeth Murdoch's 75-year relationship with the hospital. The designing artist, Robert Ingpen AM, took his inspiration from the 1560 painting, Kinderspiele (Children's Games), by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, and has recast this work in the 21st century. This tapestry's extraordinary depiction of children absorbed in playing a variety of games including hopscotch, skipping, elastics and hula hoops, hums with energy and provides visitors to the Hospital with a colourful, engaging and playful art work to view.
